Roasted (torrefied) maple is a thermally modified wood popular among woodworkers for its superior stability, moisture resistance, and rich caramel color. The process involves heating the wood in an oxygen-free kiln to roughly 300-400F, which caramelizes the sugars, seals the pores, and removes resins.

Because the cellular structure collapses and the moisture content is reduced to nearly 0% (eventually stabilizing around 3–5%), the wood is less susceptible to warping, twisting, or changing with humidity.

Hobby boards are milled from 4/4 lumber, finished thickness will vary between 3/4"-1".
