Ambrosia Maple unique colour and look are association with ambrosia beetles. The beetles bore into the trunk of the tree, bringing with them the ambrosia fungi, which subsequently stains and discolors the surrounding wood. The discoloration can be very similar to spalted maple, though with ambrosia maple, the discoloration is centered around the boring paths of the beetles, and their entrance holes can usually be seen, which may need to be filled. 

It is commonly used for many decorative projects, great for turning and is commonly used in accents in furniture.

It takes finishes and stains well and poses no difficulty in gluing.

Hobby boards are milled from 4/4 lumber, finished thickness will vary between 3/4"-1".

Boards are 20" long.
