S2S Birdseye Maple

Birdseye Hard Maple is a highly prized, figured wood—primarily from sugar maple (Acer saccharum)—featuring small, swirling knots that resemble bird eyes, caused by environmental stress. It is not a distinct species but a rare genetic/growth anomaly.

What can you expect from S2S Lumber?

S2S Lumber (Surfaced two Sides) is sent through our planer, skimmed on two sides to show grain and colour with the edges left rough.  Thickness will be around 3/16” less than nominal thickness due to the planing process.   If rough stock is preferred please leave a comment on checkout.
